"Anitya" by Anne Cooper is a landbased art installation at the City’s Los Poblanos Fields Open Space, 138 acres of agricultural land she helped preserve in 1994-97. The installation is comprised of 81 bowls of raw terracotta-colored clay harvested from the artist’s land near Chama. Placed in a 9 x 9 foot grid, the clay bowls contain seed balls of dryland grasses which will sprout when it rains. The bowls will eventually dissolve and return to the earth, leaving behind only red stains and the new grass. This project began in February and will continue through fall as part of LAND/ART. Read more about LAND/ART in this month's issue of albuquerqueARTS.
